CITY EXPLORATION · BEGINNER MISSIONS

Taipei GTA map and missions: where should your first ride begin?

You do not need to memorize the whole city. Find your position, pick one destination and follow one mission at a time to make your first trip easier to understand.

Start with these essentials

  • Press M on a keyboard to open the map. Click a location to navigate; C recenters the map on your character.
  • Press T to open the in-game phone and read mission conditions. This is the game's phone, not your physical device.
  • The itineraries below are our exploration suggestions. Streets, unlock requirements and rewards depend on the current game.

Start on the homepage: how to use this guide

The Taipei GTA homepage is where you play. Select Start game to enter the city, then use the map and in-game phone to choose a destination. Begin with a nearby landmark while you learn navigation and mission prompts, then explore other districts when the controls feel familiar. Return home and play ↗

This guide covers reading the map and starting missions. It is not a complete mission walkthrough, and it does not treat locked content as immediately playable. Open the game from our homepage and let the city finish loading before following the steps. Touchscreen players should use the map and phone buttons shown by the game instead of the keyboard shortcuts.

Opening the map, filtering icons and setting a destination

Press M on a keyboard to open the map. If shops, landmarks and mission markers overlap, use the legend to show only the categories you need. The current interface includes main missions, MRT stations, shops, hospitals and police stations, temples, night markets and landmarks. Icon counts can change with updates, so there is no fixed total to memorize.

Open the mapMClick the game area first so it receives keyboard input.

ZoomQ / E or mouse wheelZoom in on a start point, or out to compare districts.
Set navigationClick a map locationChoose one destination, then close the map and follow the game prompt.
Find your positionC or the recenter buttonReturn to your character after panning away.
Close the mapEsc or the close buttonIf Esc exits browser fullscreen first, use the map's close button.
  1. Locate your character and current district before choosing where to go.
  2. Keep the relevant legend category visible: night markets for sightseeing, or mission markers for a task.
  3. Zoom into the target area and click to set navigation. Check whether the actual start is beside a road, building or interaction area.
  4. Close the map before moving. Slow down near the destination and look for the game's interaction prompt.

Do not use real MRT exits or real-world walking distances as exact instructions for this game. Familiar place names help you recognize the city's theme, but the game map is the reference for navigation. A marker that looks close on the map is still worth checking before you accelerate through the next intersection.

Three ways to explore Ximending, Taipei 101 and night markets

Recent coverage identifies places such as Ximending, Taipei Main Station, Taipei 101, Longshan Temple and night markets, while noting differences from real street layouts. The suggestions below are game exploration ideas, not directions for visiting the real city. 4Gamers landmark report ↗

Your first trip: one walk and one short ride

Keep your first outing small: walk to an intersection, choose a nearby destination on the map, then ride there and stop. This builds a feel for the camera and braking distance before a longer trip. You are less likely to miss a turn or pass a mission start when you already know how to slow down. Get out of the vehicle when you want to inspect a building rather than passing it at speed.

For a longer visit, choose a theme

Give each session a focus, such as markets, temples or the skyline. At each stop, compare the marker with the scene around you and look for interaction or mission prompts. This gives the trip direction without turning it into a checklist of every landmark. It also leaves time to read dialogue instead of rushing through every location.

Starting a mission: from the phone to the start point

Press T to open the in-game phone, then choose Missions. At our check, the interface grouped tasks into nearby, main, side, work, racing and culture categories, with district filters as well. Locked missions are marked separately. Start with something currently available rather than choosing only the most distant task or the largest displayed reward.

  1. Choose an unlocked mission and read its area, goal and displayed conditions.
  2. Follow the mission interface to accept it or set navigation. Focus on one task so its destination is clear.
  3. Travel to the start. The tutorial identifies the mission character on the map as a start point and tells keyboard players to enter the glowing area and press E. Touch players use Interact.
  4. Read the dialogue and current instructions before acting. Reaching a location may require another interaction or a further step.
  5. Check the result and next prompt afterward. Unlocks, rewards and mission status are determined by the game.

On a first visit, an available prologue or main mission is a useful way to learn the story and basic interaction before trying other categories. Category names help you choose a direction, but do not imply that all tasks share the same controls, time limits or completion rules. Read each task's own instructions.

At the destination but stuck? Check these four things

  1. Check mission status: is it accepted, locked or already complete? A map marker alone may not tell you.
  2. Check the actual start: navigation can bring you close rather than finish the interaction. Get out and approach the glowing area or prompt slowly.
  3. Check input focus: close the phone and map, click the game area, then press E or the touchscreen Interact button.
  4. Check the current conditions: reread the mission for dialogue, a required vehicle, another destination or a prerequisite task.

If prompts still contradict each other, record the mission name, district and last step that worked, then return to the homepage and check the current mission status in the game. Repeatedly refreshing is not a useful diagnosis by itself: it reloads resources and can make it harder to identify which step failed. A clear description of the problem is more useful than guessing at hidden requirements.

Mission counts, underground mazes and save progress

Why do reports mention 93 missions when the list looks different?

Some early October 2026 reports described 93 missions. That figure belongs to their reporting date. Counts, categories and unlock rules can change; nearby, unlocked and total-content lists need not measure the same thing. Use the current mission interface to see what you can play rather than calculating completion from an old headline. City Magazine's earlier overview ↗

Is there a Taipei Main Station underground maze?

The underground streets are a topic of recent discussion, but a player request, a development plan and a released feature are different things. We have not verified an underground-maze mission for this guide. Return to the homepage and check the current game map and available missions for playable content.

Will missions follow me to another device or browser?

Progress does not move with a page link. For continuity, play from the homepage with the same device and browser, and do not assume that another browser or private browsing shares your progress. If loading or performance is the problem, continue with our mobile troubleshooting guide.

Sources and verification

On October 6, 2026, we checked the game's menu, keyboard and touch instructions, graphics settings, map legend and mission interface. Itineraries are our suggestions. News figures and plans retain their reporting dates and are not guarantees about the current version.
